Just as there are many ways to be a PW group, there are many ways to be a book club! Some PW groups include book club as part of PW programming or an activity they enjoy with their congregation. Book discussion groups are a great way to connect with other readers, foster thoughtful conversations, educate yourself on important topics or simply enjoy books and/or community!
Download the “Start a Book Discussion Group” resource that includes considerations and suggestions for establishing a book club.
You might hold online meetings during travel-heavy summer months and meet in-person during the rest of the year. Perhaps you’ll alternate between fiction and non-fiction, or pair one of each. Would connecting the book to a meeting location or type of food appeal to members? Or maybe your group would like to discuss some of the books suggested by Presbyterian Women Churchwide on racial equity or justice and peace. And if you’re a Horizons subscriber, remember that each issue features book suggestions, and “The Great PW Read” issue focuses on the many books read and beloved by Presbyterian women.
Whatever you read and wherever you meet, happy reading and connecting!
