CSW69 Reflection: Purity Ruchugo

My experience at CSW was just amazing. To be with all those like minded women from all walks of life who came together to advocate for women’s Rights. From the first gathering in the Church of the Covenant, I experienced the power of women when we are United for a cause and I appreciate the hard work of the planning team. Every day was filled with experiences that are meaningful.

Attending the various forums and understanding what we must do in order to meet the goals of the Beijing declaration and their impact on women by the year 2030 challenged me to do more in and with the lives of women we serve in my organization.

During the forum with the UN Secretary General, a question was raised about there being a woman Secretary General. I truly believe that we can have a woman to hold that office in the near future. I met many Sisters and made friends that I’m keeping in touch with.

Thanks to PW/PCUSA for making this life changing experience possible for many of us in the body of Christ. I hope to attend again next year.
