Love God, Love People

“When I was in my 20s, I did a year of mission work in a small neighborhood. The program, Mission Year, had a motto: Love God. Love people. Nothing else matters. I remember thinking that so many things mattered. What was I going to do with my life? Was I going to make it through the year? Why weren’t we allowed to have televisions? Then something happened—I was forced to get to know my neighbors.” To read more of this story by Micah Rose Emerson as it appears in the 2021 Summer issue of Horizons Magazine, click to order or subscribe.
