From a Person of Color

Jean Robertson
March 2, 2023

I am just a person,

I am just me,

I am what God chose me to be.

I was born with the skin of a darker hue,

But I’m just a person,

Just as human as you.

I’m not asking for a pot of gold,

I’m not asking to be in control,

All I want is to be free to be me,

Not for my hue to be all you can see.

Jean Robertson, from Presbyterian Women in the Northeast Georgia Presbytery, attends Belle-Terrace Presbyterian Church in Augusta, Georgia.
