CSW69 Reflection: Olga L Malavé Radi
Central Florida P.W. Moderator, Chair Mission Dev. Committee C.F., Justice and Peace SOSA
There were many things that I heard and experienced during my trip to New York for the CSW69. During my arrival I experienced sadness since that is the place of birth of my late son. It reminded me that the last time I went to New York, I did it with him. I stayed in a small but nice hotel near Central Park, a little far from the United Nations building and I travel by train every day. That reminded me of the years that I worked there and my travelling by train to get work.
Then all the informative and nice discussions that I heard during the time I spent around the buildings at the United Nations. Seen so many people from all around the World who work tirelessly to promote the Gender equality on behalf of Women’s and Girls. From involvement in politics to the earth and the Sea, how women offer their knowledge and gifts to better the places in which they live.
I also had a wonderful time with Presbyterian Women and women of other denominations during our time of worship and fellowship while there. For the first time in my life, I join a silent march on behalf of Palestine, and I really felt grateful that I was able to do it, on behalf of others who do not have the same opportunity to do so. I made new friends and caught up with old friends. Spend time conversing with them also in our free time. This was a great time for me and what I learned was something that I will always be grateful for.
